Monty Oum's Kairi Drive Form Contest.

Mon Jul 27, 2009, 11:30 PM
Hey. Monty Oum (if you don't know who this is get thee hence to [link] right now!) is having a contest. Artists are being encouraged to submit ideas for drive forms for Kairi, similar to Sora's from KH2. The winners will have their drive forms appear in Kairi's one-on-one battle with an as yet unknown opponent.

I have ideas but no drawing talent or experience. However, if there's anyone out there who has the inverse of that, I suggest we work together. Drop me a line if you like. I'm really interested in a project like this.

P.S. I actually have no idea if what I'm asking is appropriate, or not unimaginably pathetic, or some kind of afront to the artistic community by not offering to pay or thinking for even a moment someone would want to draw my ideas instead of working on their own, much better ones. Or if what I'm proposing suggests that my ideas are so much better than others that they'd want to work with me, or that I'm the only one with ideas around here. If it does, please tell me, and I can destroy this account and slink away into the night out of shame. See you! (P.S. I'm not kidding about that last part.)

  • Mood: Nervous
  • Listening to: The ticking of clocks.
  • Reading: Psychiatry books.
  • Watching: My life eroding away before my eyes.
  • Playing: Brutal legend. (I wish)
  • Eating: Terribly constructed frozen bananas.
  • Drinking: Sea Bass whiskey. The whiskey with bass aftertaste

u said u had a theory as to why monty oum is escalating the violence in dead fantasy....I'd like to hear it:D

Just warning you now, I never said it wasn't stupid.

Anyway, one of Monty's notes about DF said that the mood he wanted to convey (back when it was just I & II) was one of friendly competition, which is why the girls never got seriously hurt until now, and why Rikku gave Ayane her weapon back in I. I think Tifa’s bloody round with Hayate is his way of telling the audience that the rules have changed, and now things are getting serious.

Admittedly, I know far less about DOA than I do about Final Fantasy, but I’m starting to think that maybe what allowed the girls to all be in the same place and fight each other at the same time is actually a DOA tournament with the FF ladies invited to join the party. As for how, I don‘t know, but I have a suspicion as to why. I think it’s a trap someone set for them, or it‘s starting to look like that now. Kasumi’s clones have been unleashed on her and Yuna, and Hayate has had a pack of ninjas slash Tifa to within an inch of her life.

In any case, I think it’s a sign from the man that things are taking a turn. A turn into what, I don’t know. But I think it’s a turn into darker, more violent territory.

In any case, if Tifa’s beat down was how he balanced out her god-like display in DFII, I’m scared to see what’s going to happen to Rinoa!

You make a good bit of sense there. And your right it could be a DOA tournament because nearly everyone of those involve someone getting doublecrossed, tricked or trapped. But even so I never thought that it was a friendly between them.

Have you noticed that alot of people dont seem happy with Monty for adding blood into the movies...I dont get it, it gives the movies a story and meaning, even if we dont know what it is yet.
